BIO 215 and BIO 216: minimum grade of C or better required
Complete 7 credits of general education elective credits from any of the following categories: Behavioral/Social Sciences, Humanities/Fine Arts, Natural/Physical Sciences, Math/Quantitative Reasoning
Students who need to take BIO 215 at GCC should speak with an advisor to complete the appropriate prerequisites (BIO 126, MAT 120), which can count as your general education elective requirement.
NOTE: all SGT courses must be completed with a grade of C or better in order to graduate from the program.
SGT101 and SGT120 are offered in the fall only.
· All students entering the Surgical Technology Program will be required to have a CORI (Criminal Offenders Record Information) check. A student with a charge in the Lifetime Presumptive Disqualification Category is ineligible for placement in the Surgical Technology Program. Discretionary Disqualification Category charges will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
· Students need to know that CORI issues may prevent a student from attending clinical sites, may interfere with a student’s success in the program, and may interfere with a student’s ability to become a Certified Surgical Technologist.
· Students will also be required to have a National Background check prior to their hospital clinical rotations, which includes a nationwide record indicator with sex offender, national fraud and abuse search and a county criminal search. Students are required to have a mandatory drug screening prior to their hospital clinical rotations.
· All students entering a GCC health program will be required to show proof of vaccinations/titers and a physical attestation prior to entering clinical.
