Honors Scholar Program
The Honors Scholar Program offers students enhanced research and learning opportunities to prepare for advanced scholarship and success in the workforce. Admission requires enrollment in an associate degree program and a minimum GPA of 3.2, though exceptions may be made based on other academic achievements. Graduating as an Honors Scholar involves maintaining a 3.2 GPA, completing nine honors credits (including an interdisciplinary seminar), earning at least a B in honors courses and presenting original work at an approved research forum. Students may earn honors credits by completing the following: honors-designated course sections, honors colloquia, and by proposing a completing an approved Honors Project within a regular course. Workforce Development
The Office of Workforce Development provides affordable, short-term training programs for high-demand jobs in Franklin and Hampshire counties. GCC’s workforce training programs are fast-tracked and aligned with our region’s most in-demand industries, including healthcare, advanced manufacturing, education, energy technology, outdoor recreation, and more. Financial assistance is available for most of the workforce training opportunities. Employers can also access customized training solutions tailored to their workforce needs, with guidance on state workforce training funds. Community Engagement
Greenfield Community College supports lifelong learning through non-credit workshops and micro-courses designed for personal enrichment. Past topics have included gardening, creative writing, dance, politics, and geology. The Senior Symposia program fosters continued education for older adults through engaging lectures and discussions on a variety of subjects. All ages are welcome to participate. Partner Programs
Neighboring community colleges welcome students from GCC to apply to their programs. Interested students may complete the general education courses listed on the following pages at GCC prior to submitting an application to Berkshire Community College, Holyoke Community College, or Springfield Technical Community College.
Space in partner programs is limited, and admission is non-guaranteed. Students are encouraged to meet with program representatives at partnering community colleges for specific admissions requirements and application procedures.
