As a certified basic or advanced EMT, you can complete GCC’s paramedic certificate to take the next step in your career. Our rigorous program covers all aspects of advanced life support care, such as advanced patient assessment, differential diagnosis, treatment plans and implementation. The paramedic certificate program starts each fall. It meets on campus two evenings per week, as well as an average of two Saturdays a month. The program can be completed in as few as 15 months and includes 600 hours of clinical and field time.
Admission Information
This program has a selective admission process; you must apply to the program in addition to completing a general GCC application for admission
Applicants must have current Basic EMT or Advanced EMT certification and at least 75 ambulance patient care experiences, and complete a written Basic EMT test administered by the program coordinator
Students must demonstrate satisfactory completion of ENG 090 or place beyond this level on a placement exam
Students must be 18 years of age to begin classes in the program
